DUTY & TAX

Duty and tax exemption threshold: RM 500

Tax: 5-10% SST for goods, 6% SST for services

Value for duty and tax assessment: : CIF value of shipment, which includes the cost of the imported goods, the cost of freight and the cost of insurance. Duties for some products are also based on quantity measurements, like weight or volume.

All non-document shipments require a Commercial Invoice. The Commercial Invoice must include:
  • an itemized description
  • shipper and recipient name,
  • address,
  • Cost, Insurance, Freight or Free On Board price and the currency used
  • Quantity and weight
  • Harmonized System Code (optional)

KEY PROHIBITED COMMODITIES

All non-document shipments require a Commercial Invoice. The Commercial Invoice must include: an itemized description, value, shipper and recipient name, address, Cost, Insurance, Freight or Free On Board price, currency, quantity, weight and Harmonized System Code (optional) which is also required to be listed on the Air Waybill (Shipping Label).
